Ryan Justice visits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
at Scottish Rite - 9/26/05

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Ryan Justice and retired Indy Car Driver and National Spokesperson Robbie Buhl made an appearance for the kids at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Representing “Racing For Kids®”, they made the Monday afternoon appearance together to bring some higher spirits to the children in the not-for-profit Atlanta hospital. And what do you think the most commonly asked question from the children was? You got it, “How fast do your racecars go?”

The response from the children was tremendous. Children and their parents came from several areas of the health care center to get autographed cards, hats and just have a friendly visit with the racecar drivers. For some children, there were even special room-to-room visits made by Ryan and Robbie. “Being there and uplifting the spirits of those kids really made me feel good”, says Ryan Justice of Canby, Oregon. “I really enjoy giving back to communities that have supported me in my racing efforts.”

The two organizations:

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the leading pediatric healthcare systems in the country, is a not-for-profit organization that benefits from the generous philanthropic and volunteer support of our community. Child magazine ranks Children’s as one of the top 10 children’s hospitals nationwide and Children’s is among U.S.News & World Report’s top pediatric hospitals. Racing For Kids®.
Founded in 1989 at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Racing For Kids® is designed to use the increasing popularity of motorsports to bring public attention and funding to the health care needs of children. The hospital visits form the heart of the program. Each Racing For Kids® driver and rider visits children in Children's Hospitals where they race. They spend time with each sick youngster answering questions about their sport, handing out the distinctive Racing For Kids®/Aventis hats and signing autographs.

Racing For Kids® representatives have visited with more than 15,000 young patients in over 240 hospitals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Australia. In addition, over $2.5 million has been raised through donations and specific fund raising events for children's hospitals across the country.

Although Ryan’s relationship with Racing For Kids® started this past week, Ryan has made other appearances with the same mission in mind, uplifting the spirits of children in need.
