Northwest Autosport Signs Phil Fogg Jr. and Eric Freiberg for 2007 Star Mazda
Championship
February 22, 2007. Portland, Oregon. Northwest Autosport Team Manager Michael
Hernandez announced today that Northwest Autosport has signed Phil Fogg Jr and Eric
Freiberg to compete in the 2007 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear.
Fogg, from Wilsonville, Oregon, enters his third season with Northwest Autosport behind
the wheel of the #29 Consonus Health Services Pro Formula Mazda. Running a limited
schedule in 2006, Fogg finished twenty-third overall in the Star Mazda Championship
presented by Goodyear and finished fourth in the Expert Series for drivers aged 30-44 with
six podium finishes in the class including the class victory in the 2006 season finale at
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Prior to joining Northwest Autosport Fogg was an
accomplished sportscar racer, participating in Spec Racer Ford and Pro Sports Toyota in
SCCA competition.
Twenty year old Freiberg, from Homer Glen, Illinois, will climb into the #3 Northwest
Autosport Pro Formula Mazda driven by Ryan Justice to third place in the 2006 Star Mazda
Championship presented by Goodyear with victories at Mid-Ohio and Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca. Freiberg looks to carry on the winning ways after capturing the 2007 WKA
National Championship as well as four circle-track karting championship. The 2004
graduate of Lockport Township High School has also participated in Skip Barber races and
the 2006 SCCA Central Division Formula Mazda Championship.

forward to continued success,” Hernandez explained. “Phil is consistently quick and is a
threat to capture the Expert Series title and we feel the Eric can climb right into the car and
pick up where Ryan left off at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. With Sebring right around the
corner we will continue our pre-season testing program and feel we’ll be ready to go at
Sebring where Ryan put the car on the front row in 2006.”
